HOW DOES MY FAMILY MEMBER/FRIEND AQUIRE AN APPOINTED ATTORNEY?
Court appointed attorneys are determined by the court. The court will have your friend or family member complete the documentation to establish whether he/she is indigent. Once the court determines his/her status, he/she may have a court appointed attorney represent him/her.
IF MY FAMILY MEMBER/FRIEND QUALIFIES FOR AN APPOINTED ATTORNEY, WILL I KNOW WHO THE ATTORNEY IS?
If your attorney is a public defender, your attorney will let you know he/she works for the PAPD. Your friend or family member can give you the name of his/her public defender if he/she wishes to do so.
IF MY FRIEND/FAMILY MEMBER IS IN JAIL, HOW WILL THE PAPD CONTACT HIM/HER?
The PAPD will contact your friend/family member by phone, or visiting him/her in the jail.
I WANT TO KNOW WHAT IS GOING ON WITH MY FRIEND/FAMILY MEMBER'S CASE.
